Hooray!!! Friday's are now Mommy and Mackenzie days. Starting in the new year of 2008 I closed the home daycare down every Friday so that I could hang with Mackenzie....I hope this last forever :) I have big plans to snuggle in bed together watching cartoons, eating huge breakfasts in bed, shopping, play dates, lunch dates and just play, play, play together ALL day long. I am so happy we have this day to share together!

**Christmas**
Mackenzie was terrified of Santa this year. However she got up the courage to ask him for a stuffed toy puppy...but no way was she sitting on his lap :)
For Christmas she got every thing under the sun....such a spoiled girl. Her favourites were; My ponies, Littlest Pet Shop, puzzles, tea set, Dvds and of course her toy puppy from Santa himself.

To Mackenzie: There is a story that I want to make sure I wrote down for ya. You were just a few weeks old and in your colicky stage...I was battling with baby blues as so many Mom do. It was one of the scariest things I've ever been threw and wish it on no one. Although I was madly in love and what should of been the happiest time in my life I couldn't shake the rain cloud that followed me everywhere I went. One day when I felt incredible low, isolated and defeated I made a silent prayer for anything to give me a reason to go on. You were crying for an hour straight and nothing would soothe you. Just then I could hear music coming from my balcony. When I stepped outside I could see a marching band parading down Dundas Street in the middle of the afternoon. They were playing our song "Mr. Golden Sun" it's what I sang to you calm you and myself down. I assure you I am not crazy =) Although it was the sign that told me that day everything was going to be ok.

Mackenzie dressed up as a Monkey this year (Mommy's pick....cause she's my little monkey). I am not sure you understood what was going on when you were trick-or-treating from door to door. You sure liked it though =) You'd knock on the door and then quickly fumble with your bag to open it for the candy that you knew would soon follow. If you got two treats from one house the more excited you got and you were sure to let us know that "I got 2 candies yeah!" After 15 houses visited in your Grandparents neighbourhood you decided that was a wrap. Your candy loot of choice....a sucker =)
This week you welcomed Lawson Hammond to the daycare. You affectionately call him "baby Lawson". It is bringing me back to days gone by when you too were just a baby.

You're a Super Beast now at the Little Gym. It was interesting and fun to see how much you've grown over the short summer months. Daddy and I were amazed at how well you listened and acted on the instructions your teacher gave you. You were so eager to show off and so happy to be back at the Little Gym.

I wonder how long it will take to figure out that kisses don't heal all boo boos. It's wonderful though that you ask for kisses when you've hurt yourself....as soon as you get your kiss...it instantly doesn't hurt anymore =) The other day you fell on your but and you asked Daddy "kiss my but Daddy please" Such a funny girl =)

Time for some ribs. Took you to Rib Fest at Victoria Park for the first time this year. Silly girl took one bite of my ribs and made a disgusted face...that was it you dare not try anymore?! The day was saved though because you found a free carousel ride...you rode that horse that spun around in continuous circles % TIMES. However I think you would have rode that ride forever...you still cried when it was time to call it a day.

You saw Thomas the Train today with Grandma Underhill, Uncle Jay, Aunt Alaina and your cousins. Perhaps from the excitement or just the sun getting to you, you threw-up just before you were to board Thomas the Train =0( You had to see the train pull away and all the smiling children wave at you as they headed down the track....you said in a sad voice "maybe next time". Luckily the workers took pity on you and you got to ride the train later in the day...you thought it was pretty cool. Grandma bought you the largest Thomas balloon I have ever seen to take home with ya =0)

A day at the beach with Mommy and Daddy. For fun Daddy dug a huge hole and buried you up to your chest....you squealed with delights and laughed. Daddy took you into the water for a swim...you needed much reassurance. Then of course once you got comfortable in the water you didn't want to ever come out. Then it was ice cream and french fries before we headed for home...you love food!

First trip to Ontario Place. Your dad and I took you to go see Lynette the Clown and Molly. Drove for two hours and downtown Toronto to get there. Then we waited in the sun for 45 minutes before the show started. It was all going to be so worth it see the look on your face when one of your favourite T.V. characters came to life. The moment had finally arrived and what did you do, hide your face in Daddy's shoulder and peeked out from time to time.

To Mackenzie: I had a car accident on the weekend. Such a stupid mistake...it was all my fault. I wasn't paying attention. I was off in lala land singing a song and thinking about a hundred things, when I suddenly ran a red light. So lucky was I to walk away from the accident and that I didn't harm anyone else. Just after the accident I was driving home and I thought about you girl. I had to pull over to the side of the road because I was shaking so badly and started to bawl. How stupid I felt to make such a simple mistake...that I could of ripped myself from your life. I have so much that I want to teach you and experience with you through your eyes. It's you that I would miss more then anyone if I was to suddenly leave this earth. I am so sorry and I promise I will do my best to stay with you just as long as I can =)

Mackenzie says "Bear what happened? You okay? Bear you dirty! You messy Bear! Time to tidy up. All clean, you ok?"

Big Girl!!! Adam and I took Mac to her very first movie at a theater. Mackenzie sat in Adam's lap the whole time and was a doll. Quickly sitting, eating popcorn and trying not to blink. During one scene in the movie (when the villains are storming the castle) Mackenzie buried her face in Adam's neck and said she was scared....too sweet!
Shrek Third was the movie and she LOVED it =)

Ahug.....we're popping second year molars over here right now. For the last two nights we've been getting up 3 to 5 times in the night....no fun! Although I happy to see that the reason for all these night wakings is teething related :) So this too shall pass!

Mackenzie got her first BIG girl hair cut this weekend. Went to Max and Oscars where it's geared towards cutting kids hair. This place had Dora cartoons playing, suckers, balloons and super friendly staff....the works!
Surprisingly Mackenzie had a difficult time at first. No way was she wearing the smock the tears just flew. She finally settled down with a sucker in hand. Of course I took a TON of pics that I'll try and post very soon.

Oh how cute are you :) So we're doing this relaxed potty training sort of thing for the last week. Basically just sitting Mackenzie on the potty 3 to 5 times a day and reading books (she's still in diapers). She totally gets it though that she's suppose to be peeing in the potty....she's successful 1/2 of the time. As soon as she starts peeing she grins from ear to ear "I pee...yeah!" So the other day she's sitting on the potty and I am in the other room picking out her clothes. I come back to find her crouched down on the floor with her pj's off and them being used as a rag. She appears to be cleaning something up off the floor with her pj's. Mackenzie looks at me and say "uh oh mommy big mess!" and she has a worried look on her face (her aim most of been off). I of course burst into laughter :)

She peed on the potty :) I know it's such a geeky thing to be so excited about but I was clapping and cheering like a fool :) I am still not ready to do the potty thing full speed ahead...yet I don't want to miss a great opportunity either?! Today when I took her diaper off to change her bum I had to leave her naked for a minute (because one of the daycare kids ran off with her diaper...stinker). I turn around to see Mackenzie squatting in a corner and cheering "I pee" then she started to clap for herself.
We transitioned Mackenzie to a toddler bed about 3 weeks ago. Sad to report we're STILL struggling are having battles over the recent move to a big bed. The problem is Mackenzie takes a half hour to one full hour to fall asleep. I never really realized that fully when she was in a crib...but thinking back now she's always been like that. So it's an awful long time for a toddler to have to lay in one place. I hate having to fight over such a simple issue. Seriously contemplating putting the crib back up for a few more months. Once she's a sleep though she sleeps 10 to 11 hours straight threw...so that's great. I feel like she's a smart cookie though and that she can figure this out. Oh what's a parent to do...think, think, think??? Last night though it broke my heart to come down on her when she was discovering the night life. I walk into her room to tell her to lay down and go to sleep (for the 5th time). When I find her looking out the window in amazement...."mommy, mommy, dog walking, moon pretty, car light" said Mackenzie in a hurried excited voice. She was happy to see a whole world going on outside her bedroom.
My all time favorite thing she says right now is "I hab (have) it?" I don't know why I just think it's so cute :) Last night after she ate ALL of her supper she lend over to me looked at my plate and said "I hab it Mommy pleeeeese?". When I asked her what she wanted she smiled at me and said "you meat!!!" How could I resist such a cute face?!
Ok one more cute story then I am going to end this blog. Last week Mackenzie and I were shopping and we had to take the bus home. I realize that I have 5 minutes to catch the bus and we were on the opposite side of the mall from the bus stop. So I am hurrying Mackenzie as fast as I can. I am narrating the happens as we run to the bus...."run, up the stairs, quick around the fountain" you get the idea. So we arrive at the bus stop just in time. I turn to see Mac dancing and singing "we did it, we did it, WE DID IT, do dod do dod" singing her Dora accomplishment song. I guess it was kind of an adventure. Everything is fun with Mac by your side :)

ENT specialist confirmed Mackenzie has 10% hearing lost (very good chance it's temporary). She has a fluid build up behind her ears, so we need to concentrate on getting rid of that (she's on meds for the next 6 weeks). If fluid doesn't dissappear in 6 weeks or she gets one more ear infections she'll need to have tubes.
She did an awesome job at the hospital today....smiled and hopped along happily the whole time.

"She's sooo affectionate!" Is generally the comment we hear the most often about our little girl. Makes me smile every time I hear it. I am raising an affectionate human being.....hooray!!! I am so proud of that :)
Mackenzie said her first full sentence today. I watched her diligently try to place a hat up on her stuffed dogs head. When she couldn't manipulated the stuffed toy to do as she wished she became angry almost as she was scolding it she said "puppy hat on cold outside."

Budding Artist ???
It seems to me that you're taking a little after your Uncle Bryan and Grandpa Underhill. You like to draw and ask me several times a day out of the blue if you can colour. You literally jump for joy when you see me open the craft cupboard. Yesterday I bought you new tub toys....soap crayons!! You looked like a prune and your water was ice cold, yet you screamed when it was time to stop colouring the tub. When I ask what your drawing you usually respond one of two things "circle" or "ball".

Poor kid I jinxed her. The middle on this week she was fighting off a fever of 103 F for 2 days straight and was super sucky. So back to the walk-in to check her ears. Nope the fever wasn't an ear infection at all...fluid is still behind her ears though. The Doctor said she had a cold. NO SHE DOESN'T.....what an awful Doctor. The next day however she was vomitting every where. So I suspect that was the reason for the high temp. As she vommitted she was whimpering and saying "scared"...poor little muffet :(
Do I dare say she's healthy now?!

Our happy healthy toddler is finally back :) The last month has been hard on everyone due to sickness. Poor Mackenzie was hit the hardest. Mackenzie's motto this month was "no more medicine!" how cute but how very sad at the same time.
She's such a goof ball now. She's developed this laugh that sounds so fake and forced. Yet I think it's her new laugh now?! She love, love, loves the snow...can't keep her away from it. When we go outside she immediatley does a face plant and starts chowing down on the snow?! Icicles for some reason I can't quite understand are hilarious and delicious to her. Infact you can't find a single icicle in our back yard because she ate them all. When we come in from outside she insists on eatting the snow chuncks that fall off our boots....what a strange girl she is :)

All this sickness has really made me soft. Adam was away out of town on business this week and I let Mackenzie get away with so much. She's so sick and I feel bad for her. I let her fall asleep with me in my bed the last few days...since Adam wasn't there to swish her :) I never knew she was such a cuddler. She'd wake me up in the morning by touching her nose next to mine. When I opened my eyes there was her smily grin from ear to ear just millimeters from my face. It's the best wake up call I've ever gotten....I could wake up like that every morning :)

My little girls has been sick for 17 days straight! With everything from a runny nose, nagging cough, fear of dehydration, loss of appetite, diarrhea, fever, flu and a double ear infection. For the most part she's been powering through all this illness without too much complaint. It's been said though by many Doctors that Mac has a VERY high tolerance for pain. The Doctor that saw her ears today was shocked to see how bad they actually were. Cause moments earlier he was teasing us in the wait room if Mackenzie was even sick since she was the happiest child there.

Last entry of 2006. Mac is STILL fighting this flu/cold. Visited the walk-in the other day to check her ears and throat out. Doctor said everything looked good and to give it a few more days. She stopped eatting for a few days there and was sleeping 16 hours a day (so not like her). The Doctor said she has the "flu that hit the city on Christmas day" so very true.
Mackenzie told me off for the first time the other day. I was wiping her nose for the billionth time it seemed. She was grouchy and saying "no, no, no mine boogies!" Then she stamped her feet looked me square in the face and said with a serious tone "I said NOOOO!" Did my best not to laugh my ass off :)
Happy New Years Everyone!

Tonight all Mackenzie wanted to talk about was Santa! She was just a gibber-gabbering away (most of it incoherent) yet the word "Santa" was said loud and clear a dozen times over...LOL I can only gather that she was just copying me. Cause minutes earlier I was talking to Adam about "Santa this and Santa that". Crazy how observant she is now.
I saw Mackenzie this weekend for the first time sign to another child. She wanted the ball that was near another child. I saw her sign "please", then "ball" followed by "thank you" once the child brought the ball to her. I in no way coached her and stood my as an observer. I was speechless! Recently she's learned the signs for frog, ball, wiggle, toothbrush, water, slide and my personal favorite milkshake (Grandma taught her that one) :)

Mackenzie's talking! This week she was actually speaking to me. Why does this surprise me / amaze me so much. Every time I hear her speak in a complete sentence my jaw hits the ground. This weekend she was saying simple sentences such as "Daddy at work", "Where'd Aunt Mikki go?", "more milk please", "get down Mom Mom" & "Mom dance wiggle". Thats all the ones I can think of right now. I just ADORE her little voice :)
Adam and I discovered this week while we were just scribbling on a piece of paper that Mackenzie knows her shapes. We were drawing circles, hearts, stars, squares ect.... And Mackenzie came over and pointed to the shaped objects and called out there proper names. They'll never stop amazing us will they!?!?

Your first blizzard! While we all slept 60 cm of snow fell on us today. It brought London to it's knees. All schools closed down, even Daddy didn't have to work today (2nd time in history that his work place has ever shut down), city busses didn't run all day and police were urging people to stay home.
Daddy and you played out in the snow. He built you a snow fort and dug you a maze so you could at least walk around the back yard. Good thing we bought you a new super warm water resistant snowsuit just a few days before the snow storm hit.
The biggest thing you learned threw all of this is that snow tastes yummy :)

Things you do that makes us giggle:
*you sing the last word to any song playing
*you wave your hand in front of your face and say "stinky" when your poopie
*you make sure after I give you a good night kiss that bear gets one too
*I love that you yell "bye" as I am shutting the door to your bedroom and your drifting off to sleep
*think it's cute that you yell "ALL DONE!" in the morning when you want to be saved from your crib
*your so giving to your stuffed animals. You make sure they get something to eat when you do, you help them to brush their teeth, if you get a sticker for doing something good you want them to have one too. I find you from time to time having private conversations with your stuffed animal friends...too funny!
*you will repeat ANYTHING we want you to now....we have tons of fun with this
*when we go to the mall you run to where Santa is...but you don't want to meet him in person just get :)
*if one of your Papa's is around they become your instant bestfriend...no one else will do
*you LOVE snow, you're so happy that it's here
*you tell me you need a kleenxe by saying "boogie" (thank u Aunt Nikki)

Happy 18 months Mackenzie!!! Official you're the BIG one and a half years old :)
We introduced the potty on the weekend. Took you to Wal-mart and let you choose it out yourself. You choose the Pooh Bear one....I suspect it was because you saw a picture of Piglet on the box. The first time you sat on the potty you clapped for yourself then squatted beside the potty and peed. Got up to run away then slipped and fell on your own urine :) We've got ALONG ways too go girl!!

Today Mackenzie was trying soooo hard to communicate. She learned a total of 5 words in one day!!! Today she ran up and touched my coffee mug and said "hot!" Later she pointed to my mouth and said "it's a mouth"...then her finger travels to my eye "eyeball" she says happily. I tell her it's time to go to the park and she gathers her outside wear. One by one she brings me her belongings announcing each item with pride "coat", "hat", "shoe", "sock" she hollers. On our walk I cover her up with her blanket. There was a bug print on one side of the blanket but it was turned upside down. Mackenzie flipped the bug print side up so that she could see the bugs. Then said "I see bug". Then turned the bugs around so she couldn't see them and said "where'd bug go?" She laughed at her own joke :) It's crazy watching your child do things for the first time. No one ever told me it would be this entertaining and fun.

While Mackenzie first sign language class was a bust :) Man was she ever in a mood!! She kicked and screamed when just trying to get her in the carseat to go to the class. That should of been my clue to cancel the whole event. Once we got to the class she freaked and ran to the door saying "ALL DONE!" I quickly scan the room to realize that Mackenzie is the biggest kid there by far. All the children in the class are between 6 to 9 months old. Some are still learning to sit up on there own. Mackenzie looks awkward and it tripping / tumbling over all the kids. Which freaks me out and makes me rather nervous. The kids are encouraged to sit on a blanket in the middle of the room for 1 HOUR!!! Yah right Mackenzie isn't going to sit for one second in any spot ever. At about 10 minutes into the class I am wondering how I can gracefully exit and say I am so sorry that we even came :( Mackenzie calms down a bit whenever the class starts to sing songs and as long as she's got something in her mouth to chew on. Darn those 4 pointy cutting teeth...what perfect timing. When the class is fininsh *sigh of relief from Adam and I* I got a chance to taked to the teacher. This is when I discovered that we're in the wrong class.....DUH! Mackenzie would fit better in the Signing Tots class. Because there they have more hands on activities and movement games to teaching signing.

Rylan is a big brother today :) Hopefully Lawson will be a future playmate for you too Mackenzie.
You are drawn to older children. When at the park you wanted to be near them. They thought you were older then you were and tried to play with you. You couldn't understand that they wanted you to follow directions. You laughed and chased them around the play ground. This one girl took you under her wing and tried to show you the ropes to playing along. So cute!! Yet of course every park has it's bully. The park bully had you in his sights and he was stalking you in my opinion. I could take no more of his bullying and his Mother acted oblivious to his negative behaviour. So that was it we we're heading for home, enough was enough. Yet the bully shoved you into a puddle before I could save you. Man I was upset. I told the boy "No pushing, that hurts!" Got the whole teacher voice out and everything. While this boy's Mother of course heard that and swang into action. Not to talk to her son like she should of done. Nope she came to tell me "don't yell at my son!" I said something lame like "that was the third time he pushed my child.....enough is enough". She ran off to her playground allies and they all talked about us as we headed for home. Geez you try and make some friends and Mommy ruins it for ya :( I am afraid that these playground Mothers are going to spread flyers through out the neighbourhood that I am the lady that yells at other peoples children :( So our first trip to our new neighbourhood playground was memorable.

WOW! Mackenzie knows over a dozen signs now. Today she signed "bib" & "thank you" for the first time. A BIG thank you to her Baby Sign Language videos. So of course I've been looking into signing her up for baby sign language play groups. We're going to visit one in a few weeks and see what Mackenzie thinks of it.
The other day she made up her own sign for music. She signs the word for "more", points to the stero, then dances a little jig while turning in a circle. Huge smile from her once you turn the radio on and she bops around the kitchen like a dancing queen....LOL
This morning Mackenzie pushed out the dining room chair, climbed it then climbed on to the dining room table and did a victory dance. We knew she could climb the chair and get onto the table....no problem for her. So we've been pushing the chairs up to the table and the problem was solved. Yet today for some reason it clicked that she could move the chair around the room to get to higher places. Today the chairs are moving all around the room. Oh no what do I do now??

Awwww...honey! The first little friend you've ever made is leaving us next week. Rylan is expecting a baby brother or sister any day now. So he will be spending his days with his Mommy and baby sibling. It breaks my heart because you enjoy his company so much. You guys are true little friends. It's going to be sad when you call out for him in the morning and he won't be coming to greet you with his smilely face. Not to worry though Rylan's Mommy and I know how much you love each other so were going to work something out.
Yeah we're signing now :) We've been working really hard on this since Mackenzie was 9 months old. She has a total of 12 signs down pat. If you get her in the right mood she'll show them all to ya. Today I actually got my video camera out and got it all on tape. This week alone she's learned 4 new signs. Now I am worried if I can keep up with her :)

Happy Birthday Nolan!! Great fun was had partying with you today.
Mackenzie said her first sentence today. She said to Adam "this is a balloon" when she ran one over for him to hold for her. She must of said it a dozen times before I would believe that she was indeed saying her first sentence. Later that day she also said such things as "this is a book", "this is Elmo" and "it's a baby". How the heck does that happen over night?? She was only putting very few two worded words together yesterday and today she saying sentences??
She's at that point now were she'll try and repeat anything back to ya. And although most times she doesn't exceed at saying it cleary enough to understand. She is however getting the tone and syllables correct.
This weekend at her "Little Gym" class her teacher said Mackenzie was in her opinion not being challenged enough and would like to see her advance to the next class. Although it's my impression that she'll be the youngest amoungst 2 to 2 1/2 year olds. I don't want it to be too over her head. Well I guess there's no harm in just checking it out. Being a parent is funny though. I was so proud and happy to hear that she's advance for a 16 month old and that she needs to be moved up earlier to be challenged. Wooo hooo my kid can do somersaults and hang from bars like a 2 year old :) Ya know those are necessary skills you need to have in life.....LOL

Oh Mackenzie you have your Dad and I in stitches all the time now. Last night you learned to say the word "what?" Your Daddy taught you that one. When he says it it sounds exaggerated and funny. So you say it that way too "wwwwwwhat?" You don't know the meaning of the word or how to use it properly. Yet you know it's funny if you use it after you've been asked a question. Imagine how funny it is to hear a such a little person saying "wwwwwhat?" when asked if "it's time for bed" or "let's get your bum changed" and so on and so on.
Too funny :)

16 months old and you're a talker, that is for sure. You're able to use up to 40 word correctly now on your own. One of your favorite things to do now is repeat what we say. Today Daddy said "I don't see a ball" you being the copy cat said "I see a ball". It was clear as a bell and you said is several times over like a broken record. Our jaws both dropped.
Your learning to count (up to 3), learning the different sounds animals make (you've got cow, duck and dog down pat) and you're getting really good at point to all of your body parts.
I am noticing that your not as eager to use your signs anymore. Now that you can say the words your probably not seeing much of a point to signing them. But baby we have to keep it up...your cousins want to talk to you too :0)
Honey I could brag about you all day long :0)

Spent the September long weekend with family up in Wasaga Beach. Your cousins Jared, Quinton, Grayson and Elliot just loved you up. You of course LOVED all the attention. Elliot had to inform me this weekend that I didn't know your name. He kept correcting me and telling me your name was Mackie....NOT Mackenzie like I thought it was :0) When Quinton and you parted ways at the end of the weekend he kissed you and said "ok Mackie I have to go now but I'll see you again real soon...ok baby?!" It just melted my heart to see him love you so. You spent a great deal of your time on the trampoline...poor Jared you wouldn't let him take a single break from jumping with ya. And you quickly became Grandma and Papa's little suck. I heard you say Grandma for the first time this weekend. When ever my mom left the room you went tearing after her yelling "Momma Momma". Your so the cutest :0)

Why is it whenever I take you out you act like a mime. We visited one of my friends yesterday and you didn't say a single word....NOT a single one. Well this weekend your going to be surround by family ALL weekend long. I like to see you try and keep your little mouth shut that long :0) I love that your an early talker.

Things you do that make us laugh:
Repeat words back to us that we say. I think it's the cutest when you say "back pack, back pack", like Dora the Explorer. It's not so funny when Daddy curses F**k, and you repeat it back though.
I love it when you roll play with your Piglet doll. Just get Piglet to do it and Mackenzie will too. It's a good thing Piglet loves medicine, getting his bum changed, eatting his veggies and going to bed. Too bad Piglet can't take a bath with you too.
We have a good laugh at watching you dance. Daddy described it best last night when he said you looked like you were auditioning for a part in the movie "Flash Dance". It looks as if your running in one spot really really fast....LOL Then your arms get a flapping and you start to twrill around all the while your giggling. We have to get this on tape to tease you with later.
I think it's funny how you periodically threw out the day are so excited to see me that you yell out "HI!!!" with this HUGE smie on your face. You make it seems as if I just entered the room and you haven't seen me in years. Meanwhile I've been with you the whole day.
I laugh when you purposely spin yourself around in circles and then try to walk straight. You're so dizzy and can't stay on your feet. The whole time your laughing and saying "wheeee wheee wheeee".
You're a riot Mackenzie :0)

We had this moment today Mackenzie, that I wished would last forever. I accidently woke you up from your nap time slumber. Of course when you are awakened and it's NOT on your terms....LOOK OUT!!!!! I quickly scooped you up and ran you into my freshly made bed. Where we ripped off the covers and snuggled right down in. For a few seconds you bawlded not sure what to do. I squeezed you tight and started humming to you. You decided maybe life wasn't all that bad inbetween my humming that you cuddled into me :0) We must of laid there for a whole 10 mintues, just you and I. You sucked your thumb like you do when your tired, scared or bored. Instead of playing with your own hair you seemed happy to play with mine instead...as I played with yours. So there we laided enjoying a lazy Wedneaday afternoon. I starred at your big blue eyes and your still chubby baby face. I wished I could freeze time or at least NEVER forget this moment we shared together. It struck me then that I should blog it down.....so hopefully when I read this in future I can go back to this memory :0)

Funny story: Mackenzie and I are in the grocery store shopping and I bend down to kiss her (like I do why too much I am sure). She slapped me square in the face, kind of stunned me. "NO, NO Mackenzie" I say "that hurts Mommy be gentle". I took my hands and rubbed her face so softly saying "genlte, gentle". She in return tried to say gentle in her garbled toddler voice (close little one but no cigar). As she mimics the word "gentle" she rubbed my boobs with soft hands in a circular motion. I couldn't help but burst into laughter. Of course Mackenzie loves the reaction of me laughing by her behaviour that she tired many times over to make me laugh my saying "gentle" and rubbing my boobs. Too Funny :0)

I really enjoy doing this babababies blog. Can you tell? It's fun to see how far Mackenzie has come in such a short time. I really enjoy writing the monthly front pages. Everyone I've ever wrote I've saved. I like to see the changes in her every month. It also makes me have to stop and think about what she's learning. Also what I should be working on with her in the coming month. So read if you like, but I really do enjoy writing them. I hope Mackenzie enjoys reading them in the future.
I am also happy to report that Mackenzie isn't biting or pulling hair anymore. Now I should go find some wood to knock on right :0) Diaper changes also go a lot more smoothly then they use to in the past. I can show her a diaper now and most of the time she'll run to me willing and get her bum changed without protest. Which is soooo nice!

Adam bought Mackenzie this huge stuffed dragon. She was scared of it for the first few days but now she loves it. If you ask her where dragon is, she'll make a huge lizzard sound. We have no idea where she learned that from?! It's really funny though.
Her ability to climb this week is getting out of control. She can climb into her high chair at lighting speed now but she wants to stand up in it and not sit down. She climbs on the couch but now she wants to jump and stand up on it. Or worse try to climb over the back of it. She climbs into her stroller even though the activity bar is on it and turns around and sits in it the proper way. Caught her yesterday pushing toys up over to the counter tops and trying to hoist herself up onto the kitchen counter. Luckliy she can't do that yet.....but you can see her little mind working to try and figure it out. We've been laying some ground rules around here this week when it comes to climbing. Although I am excited with her progress in climbing I am scared at the same time. I am really afraid she's going to hurt herself. She's looks so ackward when she climbs. Such a monkey!

Well the sleepless nights are over...Yippee! You've been sleeping 10 hour stretchs again at night for the last 4 nights in a row. Let's hope it stays that way for at least a little while. No new teeth came of it...so we might never know the reason for your night wakings.
Daddy and I spent the weekend in Toronto while you hung out with Grandma and Grandpa Rice. You sure put Daddy and I in our place though when we got back. You did your best to look unimpressed when we arrived to pick you up. You even went as far as to snub us, and wanted your Papa and Uncles over us. You've NEVER done that before. Goes to show that your growing up girlie. So it's "operation win Mackenzie's heart back" these last few days. You're easy though...already got you under my spell :0)
Mackenzie learned the new word and sign for "eat" today. I was sitting on the floor engrossed in my conversation with Adrianne. Mackenzie gentle pushed my face to make me look at her and signed the word for eat as she said "eeeeet". So I asked "do you want to eat??" to make shure I wasn't imagining things. Then she smiled and ran to the highchair. Andrianne and I both laughed....she sure does get her point acrossed.

You are killing me! The last 4 sleeping nights have been awful :( You've been waking up 2 to 4 times in the night. Most times it takes you anywhere from 1/2 an hour to an hour to fall back asleep each time. I haven't got a clue as to why your waking up. Everyone I tell this too thinks you must be teething. Although even in the past you've never been this bad at night because of teeth coming in. You just popped 4 molars a few weeks ago. What teeth could you possibliy be getting now anyways?? You should see me at night trying to figure out the mystery of your night wakings. "What do you want baby, are too hot, too cold, too wet, thirsty, teeth hurt, need Advil, have a bad dream, are you scared, just NOT tired?!?! It goes on and on like this...all the while your Dad's in the next room snorring. I would give you just about anything just for a few more winks of sleep for myself. No matter what i try I just can't seem to figure out what you want. This might sound crazy but I think it's just ME that you want. For when I enter your room you stop crying. When I leave you start again. Your not one to cry yourself to sleep, normally you just go to sleep on your own without much complaint. Yet at night it's awhole other story. I can't take you crying for more then a 1/2 hour, that's just isn't you or me. So last night in desperation to get just a little more sleep. We pulled all the sheets and pillows out and made a bed for our selves right on your bedroom floor. This is how we slept last night cuddled into one another. Maybe you are scared at night right now. I know when I have bad dreams it happens for several nights in a row. The only thing that makes me feel better is to cuddle up to your Dad until I fall asleep. I am a adult too...so you just being a baby that would be incredible scary for you. Whatever the reason for our nightly shinanigins I hope it passes soon.
Of course your making up for lost sleep during the daytime hours. Which sucks because how I am I ever suppose to catch up on my sleep. Can't sleep during the day like you do because I am working. Can you tell I am grouchy from my lack of sleep :) It's good thing you're cute Mackenzie because in the middle of the night when you've woken me up for what feels like the billionth time. I feel like sticking a "FOR SALE" sign on you and putting you at the curbside.
Much love from your Mommy, which is one step away from casting to be an extra in a zombie movie. Since that is what I feel and look like right now.

Today was our Johnson Family Reunion. Of course everyone said you've grown so much since they last saw you. And that you looked like a doll. Your cousin Margaret from England couldn't stop gushing over how sweet you are.
There was a huge blow-up fun house at the reunion that you loved to jump around in. It was 34 degees out that day and it probably felt closer to 45 degrees or higher inside that fun house that didn't even have a breeze blowing threw it. You so badly wanted to go in there but you had to drag a willing adult to accompany you inside. The only willing person to follow you into that hot box was your Aunt Nikki and Uncle Jay......man they sure do like you :0) Daddy and I were amazed that you could run around inside that gaint air mattress of a house and still stay on your feet most of the time....very impressive little girl. Even your Dad and I find that to be a challange for us to do ourselves.
This is were I should note that I hope to always keep you involved in gross motor activities of some kind threw out your life. It's obvious that your good at it and I'd like to foster that skill of yours. You get that athletic ablitiy naturally from your Aunt Nikki and Uncle Bryan. Growing up they were refered to as "monkeys" and "human pretzels". I have a feeling that's going to be a nickname for you as well very soon.
At the reunion as I saw all of your cousins running around and having fun. I wondered what cousins you'll natural gravitate towards and hang around with as you get older. Right now Gavin pays you a lot of attention and you like it. Lola and you are close in age but you don't really notice her yet. Although she's cooing and babbling and trying to get your attention now. You have a ton of cousins...your one lucky girl!

TEMPER TEMPER Baby Girl. Whoa watch out for the rath of Mackenzie Lynn. When she first started these dramatic emotional fits it was kind of funny (not that I ever laughed infornt of her mind you). I knew the day would soon come that it wouldn't be cute anymore. My girl throws 2 or more huge temper tantrums a day now. I feel like her temper tantrums are quickly escalating by each passing day. Today I simply told her "no...give Rylan his cup back". The cup went flying acrossed the room, she flopped to the floor in a heap, face went scarlet red, yelled as loud as her little lungs would let her and tears instantly spilled down her chubby cheeks. I paid her no attention and pretend her fit didn't bother me any. I had to stay strong for her sake although I really really wanted to scoop her up and say I was sorry. BAD MOMMY I would of been if I caved into this crazy new behaviour of my daughters. So what I've got a another few months of this and then it's over for good right?!?! LOL
With a girl that can only say 15 words and can do half a dozen signs she sure can carry on a conversation and get her point a crossed. I think she could probably go threw life now without learning another word or sign...LOL Today on our walk Mackenzie showed us what she was interested in and we followed. She stops dead in her tracks and points up to the gumball machine "ball" she says, so we stop and talk about that for a bit. We head to the mall and she wants to visit strangers passing by as she waves and smiles to them. Offering them whatever trinkets she has on her then says "bye" when she's read to move on. "WOW" says Mackenzie when she spies the water fountain and sits right down in the middle of the walk way. I guess it's time to sit and watch the fountain for a bit. Walking threw the food court she intensely watches everyone eatting. Then sound "mmmmmmm" can be heard coming for my daughters lips. I was thinking of food myself little girl so we stop to snack for a bit. For home we head because Mackenzie is giving off her sleepy signals. Once home she signs for "milk" and with that a bottle is made and then off to bed little one. As we go to lay her down to sleep she does the sign for kiss "presses lips together and hums....soooo cute". It's amazing how quickly they learn things. That every single day she is learning something new...I really do love this stage.

I was bummed out because Adam is out with friends for the whole night and it's just me and my girl hanging out. We ended up going to get some groceries tonight and Mackenzie cheered me right up. Just about everyone we walked by she had to say "hi" too and wave at them. Most people were so focused in shopping that they paid us no attention. For some reason it made me laugh and Mackenzie's such a copy cat she'd laugh right back. Then she discover that her voice echos in the huge Loblaws store. She'd squeal louder and louder then burst into laughter. I was cracking up over her silly behavior. People started to look at us but we'd just laugh and carry on. Walking up and down the ails Mackenzie would say "mmmmmm" to this and that. I decided to let her do the shopping then. She'd say "mmmmm" and I'd pick it up the item and show/tell her what it was. Then in the cart the item would go. Mackenzie smiled huge every time she saw the item she'd "mmmmmm" to go in the cart. When we processed to check out Mackenzie had picked out strawberries, bananas, apples, pears, lunch meat , bread and blueberries (funny b/c she's never even had blueberries before). When we got home it was time for supper and I let Mackenzie pick the things she wanted to eat out of the bag. We had a supper of bread, lunch meat, bananas and blueberries. She loved the blueberries...couldn't stop stuffing them fast enough into her chubby cheeks. I had a blast hanging with my little girlfriend tonight. It was sad to have to put her to bed....now what will I do ?! :0)

She's so cute...I just love her!!! Mackenzie jumped on her rocking cow for the first time yesterday and rocked back and forth, back and forth all my herself. As she rocks she sings "rooow rooow rooow oooh daa daa!!!" at the top of her lungs over and over again :0) She was trying to sing "Row, row, row your boat" I think, which I've been sing to her for weeks now. It just melted my heart so I had to blog it down.

I feel as if I have two cute one year olds. Rylan who is one day younger then Mackenzie started home daycare this week and he's doing very well. They have me super busy and I love it :0)
I had a dream about Mackenzie last night. I can't remember the last time I've had a dream, too tired to dream lately Mackenzie keeps me very busy...LOL Anyways I dreamed that I walked into Mackenzie's room and she was walking around her room because she had successful climbed out of her crib. This didn't alarm me in my dream I wasn't surprised in the least that she did such a thing. Then we sat down amoungst her stuffed animals and had a very adult conversation about how things were going in her life. I asked her was I doing a good job, did she like Rylan, was she happy, it went on and on like this. Then she said "good night Mommy" and climbed back into her crib and I went back to my bedroom to sleep. I had this peaceful feeling and happily fell back into a deep sleep. When I awoke this morning the dream was the first thing I remembered it feel so real that I had to think for a moment if it really happened...LOL

The big one year check-up was today. Doctor said Mackenzie is "cute, healthy, active and doing just fine". I actually got just a tad bit nervous as I was walking into the Doctors office. Like that feeling you get just before you start to write a test and your hoping you studied hard enough...LOL Well apparently we A+ it and we can breathe easy until the next one :0)
Her Doctor is also stumbed as to what Mackenzie is having an allergic reactions to. Although he says he's not worried it's most likely something she'll outgrow hopefully. That if she starts to have any kind of breathe problems then it's time for real concern.
The Doctor also said Mackenzie seems to be progressing at a normal rate in all areas except growth and gross motor....in those areas she's coming in at 18 months.
So all around great visit and were good to go.

My first Mother's Day. Adam let me sleep in while he tended to our daughters every whim at 6am in the morning. I didn't get out of bed until 8:30am woo hoo! Then my two favorite people took me out for a McDonald's breakfast. It was nice to be able to go to a place and Mackenzie could be messy and loud and nobody there cared. We spent the rest of the day hanging out with family and just relaxing after completing a crazy fun filled weekend.
What I thought was interesting was that all the way leading up to Mother's Day. I kept thinking...you pamper me...you be grateful to me...you show me your love...me me me me. Then when the actual day was here I found myself being grateful for having a wonderful daughter to be a mother too and a great husband to share it all with. Ok that's enought sap for one day :0)

Mackenzie 1st birthday party was a success! Our GD Friends came out last night to celebrate Mackenzie and Adam's birthdays. I must of heard a 100 times yesterday "what's that" and "eeeewwww" from Mackenzie. There was so much going on around her yesterday and she was complete amazed by it all. You could see her trying to comprehend everything going on around her in a short period of time. Am sure it was overload for her but she did very well. So that's one successful birthday party down and I can't wait for her next party!
She had her second allergic reaction yesterday after she drived into her birthday cake. This is frustrating to me because I don't know what is causing these outbreaks. I even made a special cake this time, but she still had a reaction. The reaction wasn't as bad as the first one but a reaction all the same. This time she had 5 hives spread out all over her body (one on the arm, leg, neck and belly) an her face was scarlet red everywhere the icing touched. So what was in the cake mix I made last week and the icing she ate this week?? When she had the allergic reaction last week I immediately thought it was the egg whites or canola oil(two new things she never had before). So the next day I tested both of those things on her skin......no reaction what so ever. Hopefully at Mackenzie 1 year check up her Doctor can shed some light on this issue.

Well Mackenzie has her first of 4 birthday parties this Saturday. I'am nervous and excited at the same time. I hope it isn't too over whelming for her and that she's in good spirits. We broke the party down into 4 parties in the hopes that Mackenzie would be better able to handle all the excitment in smaller dosages. She's been doing MUCH better with separation anxiety lately. It takes her a little bit to warm up around guys still. But after checking them out from a distance for a few mintues she'll happily start to play with them. Just don't know how well it will go with a house full of 10+ males surrounding her. It's hard to tell people too to keep their distance at first from Mackenzie and let her come to you. Because people are just excited and want to play with her. Well cross your fingers that all goes well.

Mackenzie had her first friend come to the door to see if she could come out and play :0) Awww my little girl has friends.......how cute is that!? The older kids like that she'll happily play the role of tag and always be it. The children run screaming and Mackenzie runs screaming after them. It's funny to watch.....man does she ever like other children. I wonder what it will be like though when I start my Daycare and they're here 24/7 and playing with all her stuff....time well tell.

She babbles the sound "Mom mom, Mom mom" a lot right now. Yesterday I left the room and when I returned Smiley Mackenzie ran up to me and hugged my legs the whole while babbling "Mom mom, Mom mom, Mom!!!" Yesterday Mackenzie Grandparents looked after her and Joanne said Mackenzie wandered from room to room searching for something the whole while saying "Mom mom mom mom" I want her to say it again and again I get exctied every time she says it, I love hearing it!
Funny though because I never taught her to say "Mom, mom" Myself and others were trying to get Mackenzie to refer to me as "Ma, ma". So it feels kind of special that she decided when and what she would call me.

Mackenzie signed the word "bottle" today for the first time. I asked her "Mackenzie do you want your bottle?" and she smiled looked down at her hand and made an open and closed fist several times (the sign for milk). Then her Uncle Jason walked in the door and she ran up to him looked at her fist and opened and closed it several times. By then I had her bottle ready to go and she ran to the couch doing the sign for milk. I have to tell ya I get so excited when she does a new sign for the first time. It's something that am passionate about and I work very hard on it with her. The signs she can do now are happy, up, bye and bottle. She understands all done, more and cookie but hasn't down them back to me yet. It 's funny when I sign to her because she mostly lights up when I do the right sign and claps for me for figuring out what she wants. Like "good job Mommy for figurung out am done with supper now". She doesn't quite understand that I want her to show me with her hands what she's thinking or wanting.......it takes time I know. Fortunately I have a family that is very supportive and I've seen my Mom on several occasions working with Mackenzie on signing....I really appreciate it.

Count down is on to Mackenzie's first birthday! In 19 more short days my baby will leap into her Toddler Years. In so many ways I don't look at her as a baby anymore. She's walking, talking, showing me attitude and asserting her independence more and more with each passsing day. Then there is moments were she's frightened by loud sounds, suckes her thumb, cuddles while drinking a bottle or when she's wrapped up tight in a bath towel ect ect...... Where I excitedly get to see glimps of my still yet a baby girl. But the moments are becoming fewer and further between. I thought I'd be upset or sad that Mackenzie is growing up. Surprisingly to me am very excited as we take this leap into Toddlerhood. I can't help but pat Adam and I on the back for successfully navigating our way through Mackenzie first year of life. Job well done!!!!!!!!!

Looking through my daughters eyes. Mackenzie, like all children has me looking at the world in different ways. Things now move at a much slower pace and that's ok. Everyday ordinary is now transformed into the most interesting thing you've ever seen. Now that Mackenzie is able to communicate few words and signs she's introducing me to the world all over again.
Yesterday while walking through the grocery store Mackenzie pointed her chubby finger towards the ceiling saying "whaath thaa?" I look up expecting to see the usual fans and lights an such. To my surprise there's a HUGE bright air balloon hanging from the ceiling. I've been going to this store for a year and I've never noticed it...makes me wonder what else I've over looked. Later we went to the post office and as we approched the Post Lady Mackenzie points and says "whaath thaa?". I hear the lady say "who am I...am your Post Lady!" Which breaks the ice between I and this lady and we end up having a 10 minute conversation.
It leaves me to wondered who and what Mackenzie will introduce me too next.

Like father, like daughter! Mackenzie yesterday had some sort of flu bug. As I was just about to put Mackenzie's recently bathed fully feed body to bed she threw-up all over me. She ran right over to me cornering me into the wall and before I knew what was happening she threw-up all over me. It was as if she actually aimed for me. It was not just a little threw-up either. But the kind that makes you peal off your clothes and jump immediately into the shower. Now that I think about it it's kind of funny.
She's fine today but she passed her flu bug on to her Daddy. I am guessing it's probably my turn tomorrow :0( You know mend everyone back to health and then the Mom gets sick. Fingers crossed that getting puked on was the worst of it for me.

So much personality for one little girl. She knows what she likes and what she doesn't. Has a mind of her own and a stubborn streak to go with it. Happily shows affection and loves to receive it. She's a child that marches to her own little drummer. So much determination for one little girl. Mackenzie has so many qualities that I admire. I just hope that I have the staying power and patience to guide her through life :)
You know how Mackenzie is in the "separation anxiety" phase right now. While we were at the mall yesterday just walking around. Mackenzie loves to be freed from her stroller and wander around well Mommy and Daddy play follow the leader. Well she was running up to complete strangers, men and women and hugging their legs or raising her arms up to them to pick her up. I was floored by this recent turn of events. It's also a little scary that she'd be that comfortable with a stranger. I had visions in my head of her happily jumping into a strangers arms and them running off with my baby. Just maybe she's going a little loopy from the current head cold she has...LOL

Play groups are great!! Everytime Mackenzie participates in one she ends up learning a new skill. It's funny to watch her pay close attention to other children. I saw her watch Claire and Shayla one day climb the stairs. It was as if at that moment until another child showed her how to climb stairs she had no idea it was an option. Not 2 days later she was flying upstairs all by herself. Last week she watched her friend climb on top of the toy chest and jump off. I could tell Mackenzie was watching her friend with great interest. That very night the little bum decided to see if she too could get up on top of that toy chest. And finally Mackenzie is showing an interest in her sippy cup. No matter how hard I tried to persuade her to drink from her cup she just wouldn't. But Claire, Shayla and Colin showed her this weekend that they like their sippy cup. So it shouldn't be any surprise to me that Mackenzie now wants to drink from a sippy cup too.

My parental leave is coming to an end :0( In 9 short days Adam is taking over parental leave for a month. I am so sad :0( I've had SO much fun being with Mackenzie. Sure the first few months was a blur and at times so difficult I wasn't sure I was cut out for parenthood. But after the rough start it was smooth sailing and I loved every minute of it. It's silly of me to be melancholy over going back to work because I am going to be opening a home daycare. All get to help Mackenzie navigate through the pre-school years. I think am just sad because it won't just be me and Mackenzie anymore :0( I've really enjoyed it being just the two of us.

Busy, busy, busy around here...but that's the way we like it. In the last two days Mackenzie has played with friends Nolan, Lola, Claire, Shayla and Colin. I love that she has so many little friends to play with. I think it's really good for her. Right now Mackenzie is working really hard using her gentle hands and battling the "green eyed monster".

Mackenzie says "uh oh" now. It's the word of the day around here. "Un oh" she says when she turns the T.V. off, "uh oh" when she falls on her bum, "uh oh" when she drops food on the floor. Of course I think it's the cutest thing ever!!

Today I have the flu :o( Poor Mackenzie because today I am no fun to be around. I've been laying on the couch for most the day just trying to find the strength to meet my daughters basic needs. It broke my heart today when Mackenzie was pulling at me to get off the couch and play with her and crying. I stumbled to the floor and laid there pretending to play with her toys. She looked at me with a look that said it all "thanks for trying Mom but are you for real" then she pretty much took it easy on me and entertained herself for the rest of the morning. What a doll she is, she really is a great girl.
On the upside I am just starting to feel a bit better so hopefully I'll be back to my healthy self very soon. This will make Mackenzie and I very happy!

So Adam taught our daugther a wonderful little game yesterday. Everyone knows the "trust game" right?!?! Were you trust that when you fall backwards the person behind you will catch you. So now when Mackenzie climbs the stairs she stands up on the step, puts her arms out and just falls backwards giggling with delight. Man oh man why did he teach her such a thing (says it was an accident)?? So Mackenzie is banned from stair climbing for awhile :0)

T.V. Addicted Monkey is what I have. Mackenzie LOVES T.V. Funny isn't it.....the very thing her Father didn't want to happen did anyways :0) In the morning we have a little rountine that I love. Goes something like this;
6am Mackenzie hollers for me from her crib
6 - 6:30 bum change and cuddles
6:30 - 7:30 bottle, cuddles and free play
7:30 - 8:00 breakfast
8:00 - Mackenzie decides it's T.V. time :0)
So cute because she walks over to the T.V. after breakfast and turns it on all by herself. Then she sits down and makes herself comfortable and watches her favorite show "Play with me Sesame". I was the one that started this routine and she now carries on with it if I've forgotten or fallen behind. She gets so into her show that she will actually ignore you while her eyes are glued to the T.V. After the show is over she gets upset I am not sure if it's because the show has ended or that she knows it's now nap time (maybe it's a combination of both).

Mackenzie is just not getting the sleep she requires these last few days. I feel guilty about that because I am pulling her this way and that. You'd think with her being so busy she'd just crash and sleep really well. Instead she does just the oppisite when naps and bed times are cut in half. She's wired, silly, over tired and sleep deprived right now.
At least things will be back to normal on Monday. The upside is that she's really funny to watch when she's like this.......kind of like watching a drunk friend ;0)

Went to see Mackenzie Doctor today to make sure her ear infection is gone. She was so good and co-operative. The DR checked her ears, throat and chest an she just sat there and let him do his thing without protest. It was funny when the DR walked into the examining room Mackenzie blurts out "hiiiiii", the DR was impressed that she's talking already. My reponds was "she's not talking that was coincidental". The DR looked at me puzzled like and goes "hi Mackenzie's".....Mackenzie chirps right along "hiiiiiii". I looked like such a fool......but she's not talking she mimics sounds right now. As we were getting right to leave the Doctors says "goodbye" an the little bum waves bye enthusiastically. I can't get her to wave bye to anyone else....not even her Dad. Such a monkey!!

I've been meaning to get the video camera out for a while now to record Mackenzie first steps. I wanted to record those wobbly baby steps before it was too late. When I was taping her walking it dawned on me that she doesn't crawl anymore :0( I got kind of emotional over it all. It's all happening too fast.....my baby isn't going to be a baby for much longer :0(

My sick baby girl :0( Double ear infection with a 103F temp. For as ill as she is though you wouldn't know it. She's still eating, sleeping and playing as usual.
We were at the DR's office for over an hour this morning. Though this would usually stress me out but Mackenzie did very well. She was easliy amused by all the people in the waiting room and had to meet each person. She was happy to walk around every square inch of the waiting room and thought it was funny that I followed her every where she went. The only thing she didn't like was to sit in my lap or when the DR tried to stick something in her ear she yelled at him and pushed his hand away. Other then that she was a lot of fun.......she has such a personality.

Mackenzie not feeling well today :0( This morning Adam and I woke up to the sound of Mackenzie bawling and a 101F temp. Not sure what's bugging my baby hopefully it's just a little fever bug and isn't some infection brewing away. But she has a slight cough, phlegm in the throat and pulling at her ears.......doesn't look good!!

Ya know am stumbed..I don't know when Mackenzie said her first word. Oh she babbles a TON but it's jibber jabber at best. I know for sure her first sound was "dadadada" then "mamamama" soon followed but I wasn't certian she knew that those words represented her parents. For a long time I noticed that she'd say "mama" when she was upset or hurt. If she was excited or happy "dada" would be her word of choice. Then this morning she blew that theory of mine away. When Adam exited the room she wailed "DADA" when he re-entered she kicked and squealed in delight "DADA". So like I said I don't know if or when she said her first word. Many people have told me she's been calling Adam dada for a very long time....an just today am certain she is too. I just don't know when exactly it happened for the first time.

You little girl are pulling at my heart strings. You total understand the meaning of the word "NO" now. Before when I said it you would stop what you were doing for a second or two and I could easily redirect you. Now when I say "No" you start to bawl, tears and everything. Then you crawl to me and lay your head down on me and want reasurance that your loved. Am trying to be strong her (and I am) but man oh man baby is it ever hard. The good news is though that by the end of the day we made some real progress. You'd look at the computer stand with your arm reached out to touch it and you would look at me. I would just give you a look and you'd pout for a second or two and then move away from the computer.
Also you have just started to like cuddling. I LOVE that your doing that. In the morning when you first wake up or just before you go to bed you lay on me. Then I scoop you up and we cuddle for TEN MINUTES....it's so nice :0) That's as long as you'll cuddle and stay still for and then you've just gotta get down and move around. I haven't been able to cuddle you since you were 3 months old....you became a shaker and a mover and just couldn't be still.....you wanted to be free :0) Am glad my cuddly baby is back.

She's so cute walking. Her arms are up over her head for support and her legs are spread way apart. With every step she takes she looks like she is going to tumble to the floor for sure but doesn't.
Wibble wobble this way and that......too cute :0)

I read something interesting in this months "Today's Parent" magazine. Scientist are studying if their is a link between babies personalities and the careers they will have in their adult life. Mackenzie falls under the category of extroverted infant. An extroverted infant is one that; coos & babbles early and often, smiles easily and often, does well around stranger & large crowds and has a high activity level. If I had to describe Mackenzie in 4 words it would be just that; the smiley, busy, flirty, chatter box =0) Large amounts of infants with this type of personality later on in life go into careers that involve media, sales or politics. Yep that's right Mackenzie is going to be the Prime Minister of Canada........ I don't have high expectation now do I =0)

I am write in this journal every couple of days right now. Just goes to show you how crazy fast they grow and change at this age.
So I think Mackenzie signed "all done" to me when she was in the high chair having breakfast this morning. She was sitting in her high chair and had only finished half of her breakfast. She was being a grump and wouldn't smile at me. AHHHHH I was getting frustrated with her groans of protest and her sour mood. So I decided to ignore the grumpy behaviour and started doing my own thing. When I turned around to look at her she smiled and then put her hands together and pulled them away from one another and did it several times. I just started at her in disbelief for a second or two. Then was like "Mackenzie are you all done??" BIG smile from her and she started kicking her feet and clapping her hands together. I cleaned her up and put her on the floor to play and she was back to her happy adorable self for the rest of the morning.
The new walking shoes are starting to grow on her. She's successfully has taken a few steps in them.

My Little Valentine Mackenzie :0) We went to the mall today to get you your very first pair of walking shoes. They measured your foot to be a size 5.....I think thats huge. You're not sure what to think of them. So far you've refused to walk in them.......it will take time.

"She's sooo affectionate!" Is generally the comment we hear the most often about our little girl. Makes me smile every time I hear it. I am raising an affectionate human being.....hooray!!! I am so proud of that :)
Mackenzie said her first full sentence today...."hat puppy it cold outside". I watched her dilegently try to place a hat up on her stuffed dogs head. When she couldn't manipulated the stuffed toy to do as she wished she became angry almost as she was scolleding she said "puppy hat on, cold outside"

Oh my godness your so funny to watch right now. Last night you pushed yourself up into a standing position from a sitting position (without using a single thing for support). I can't believe you can do that already. Then you just start walking and your giggling the whole time. You know that your doing something grand. It's so crazy that I can just watch you get stronger and better at a new skill right in front of my eyes. You can do 2 to 5 steps at a time right now then you tumble to the floor. It's scary fun to watch...she's up, she's down, up again, down again, up and down.

You took your first steps yesterday. I was so excited I thought I might cry :0( Am so proud of you little girl!! Daddy is so amazed by you and thinks you so damn adorable.
Well you beat Mommy and Daddy to be the first to walk. Daddy took his first steps when he was 11 months old and I took my first steps 2 weeks after my first birthday. So little girl is this the way it's going to be....showing Mommy and Daddy up at every turn. You were born bigger, popped your first tooth, rolled and crawled sooner then Mommy and Daddy both did.
We are so very proud of you Mackenzie and always will be.

It's an all out mother and daughter day. Daddy is busy all day working and snow boarding so it's just you and me girl.
Your such a smiley baby, you can't resist smiling back at me when I smile at you.......I love it!!
I have to tell you Mackenzie I've never meet a baby that hates to get her diaper changed as much as you do. I have changed many diapers too. I've tried all the tricks in the book to change your bottom with as little fuss as possible from you, but nothing seems to work. Tell me "why do you despise it so?" Your Grandma Underhill's theroy is that you hate it because it forces you to be still and you want to go go go!!

I can't stop kissing you today. I can't help myself.....your asking for it with those chubby cheeks and baby grin you've been pointing my way all day. Everytime I kiss you you jump with excitment and smile from ear to ear. Sad for me to think one day you'll be wiping off my kisses and think your too big for them :0( I am hoping that day never comes (although I know it will). Many kisses to you always Mackenzie!!
