I was scheduled for a c-section on June 2nd (DD was the 17th of June). The week before, I had a routine app. with my Perinatologist. I had been seeing him 1-2 times a week for Gestational Diabetes and Gestational Hypertention. We did the U/S and were told my fluid was very low (it had been decreasing for the past 2 weeks). I was told I was going to need to be on strict bedrest. After the U/S, I did a non-stress test and the baby wasn't reacting well at all. My Peri called my OB and they decided I needed to go straight to L&D. I was totally unprepared and scared to death! I wasn't even allowed to go and get my bag.... so Troy had to do that (and we live 45 min. out of town). The next morning my doctors did the c-section and told me it was definately good we got her out b/c I had almost no fluid left (which explained why her movements had become so painful). My Peri assisted in the birth. The surgery went well. I had a great female anesthesiologist. She was so nice, and she gave me a Spinal with Morphine... it was wonderful! I had great nurses. My day nurse was the same one I had with both my boys....how cool is that? I was up and walking that first night. It hurt pretty bad, but I was determined. Anyway, we spent 4 nights and 5 days in the hospital. She ended up with pretty severe jaundice and lost almost 14oz. We started to supplement with formula. She had to spend 24 hours in a bili bed at the hospital, and even after that her levels kept rising, so we took a bili light home and she used that for 5 days.
She's doing wonderfully now, but it took almost 2 weeks for her to start gaining b/c of the jaundice I had a HARD time getting her to eat.
